May Day Celebrates the 99%

Information & updates on the permitted, family-friendly May Day March & Rally organized by the Pdx May Day Coalition.

Who we are

The Portland May Day Coalition is a body of grassroots community organizations, labor unions, faith communities, and individuals that come together each year to plan the May Day (May 1st) March & Rally for International Worker's Day. Since 2006 this day of action has also focused on the relationship between worker rights and immigrant rights.

In 2012 the May Day Coalition adopted the St. Paul's Principles as operating agreements for how to interact with coalition member organizations and the broader occupy movement.

The St. Paul's Principles are:

1. Our solidarity will be based on respect for a diversity of tactics and the plans of other groups.

2. The actions and tactics used will be organized to maintain a separation of time or space.

3. Any debates or criticisms will stay internal to the movement, avoiding any public or media denunciations of fellow activists and events.

4. We oppose any state repression of dissent, including surveillance, infiltration, disruption and violence. We agree not to assist law enforcement actions against activists and others.
